What can I do to prepare for my consultation?
A referral from your primary care physician is recommended, but not required. Please bring copies of previous imaging (including x-ray, MRI or CT) reports covering the areas of injury and/or pain, as well as a list of your current medications and allergies.
If you cannot speak English, please bring a family member or friend to help interpret.
During your visit, Dr. Lin will perform a careful history and physical examination to determine the cause and diagnosis for your pain and injury. Should further diagnostic studies be necessary, Dr. Lin will make recommendations and order them as needed – however please understand that insurance authorizations are often slow and tedious, but that our professional staff will facilitate this process as quickly as possible.
Once we have a proper diagnosis, Dr. Lin will discuss treatment options with you.
More than pain management, our treatments are focused on nurturing the healing process and optimizing performance. While we do treat painful conditions, we measure our success by restoring function, strength and range of motion.
Will my insurance cover my treatment?
We participate with a variety of insurance plans for consultations, office visits, and certain injections, but regenerative medicine services (PRP or platelet rich plasma injections, stem cell, prolotherapy and various naturopathic injections) are not covered by most insurance. Please check with your insurance provider about out of network benefits.
What if I am travelling to Oahu from another place?
We are collaborating with local Hotels so our patients may rest and recuperate more comfortably. Whether you are coming for a consultation, PRP injection or Stem Cell treatment, think about taking time for yourself while in Honolulu. Ask us about special Hotel rates for our patients.
What should I do to prepare for my upcoming injection?
Our professional staff will print out and review specific instructions for you to follow during the days leading up to your injection.
If you are sick or having a fever on the day of or just before your procedure/injection, please let our staff know immediately.
Remember not to eat anything for 6 hours prior to the scheduled time of your procedure.
Do not take any NSAIDs (for example Ibuprofen, Aleve) for 7 days prior to your injection.
If another physician prescribes blood thinners (aka anticoagulation medications like aspirin, Coumadin, pradaxa, plavix or heparin), we will need signed orders from your physician instructing you when to stop taking your anticoagulation medication.)
Its always best to bring a friend or family member to help you get home safely after any medical procedure.
